1. What is the idea?

The idea is simple: try to sell a soccer club and make money by selling banners for $1000 each. Hence, the "Buy A German Soccer-Team" homepage. The main motivation for doing this is among other things to purchase the stadium area for the team and to renovate e.g. the showers. It is not always pleasantly to wait for the municipal authority, if at all it is about repair something around the stadium or if one needs to take a shower with icy-cold water during winter. Not a really pleasant feeling!

So, everyone is welcome to buy our banners, which can be put on two sports fields. The banners are available in the stadium, on the platform roof and a next field (in single items for five years (each measures 2.5x0.9 meter or 2x0.6 meter). Furthermore the banners are put also on this homepage. It is the reason for the period of five years that the organization then could play in the third highest league and the prices must be raised through this.

You can buy as many banners as you like, as long as there are some available (sea the live stats in the top right corner of the page). When you buy some banners, you can then display an image/ad/logo of your choice in the space you have purchased in the stadium. You can also have the image click through to your own website from this website. However, no obscene or offensive images are allowed.
The banners you buy will be displayed on the homepage and be installed in the stadium permanently. The homepage will not changes. For at least 5 years independently of the success of the team, we guarantee to keep the banners in the stadium and on this website, but hopefully much longer if you are content and furthermore would like to prolong. So, in the long run, we believe the banners will offer good value. You will have a piece of soccer history!

2. Who are you?

We are the most successful German amateur soccer club of all times, record amateur champion in Germany. So to speak the FC Bayern Munich of the German amateur soccer. The team has a long tradition and already exists since the year 1910. Many large teams already were in our stadium as guests. Calling Werder Bremen, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Hertha BSC Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen around only some from the German national soccer league. Also former and current national soccer league players as well as players from German national teams have laced the football shoes up for our team. The potential of the potential lets expect much for the future. Even the German television got aware of the SC Juelich 1910 and dedicated several telecasts to it.

3. Are you genuine/is this a joke?

We are completely genuine and although this site might be funny in various ways, it is not a joke! We really are selling banners for $1000 each and the team for $5,500,000, because to our one-hundred-year celebrations we do not want to be without any dressing rooms and without playable soccer ground.

Some people have even askes if we are really existent and a successful soccer club. Fair question I guess. The answer is of course yes, as this photo of the championship winnig team and the link to our German homepage should prove to any doubters:

4. How did you come up with the idea?

We try always to realize new ideas, to get the team where it belongs to actually. The German companies always moan about their economic situation and that they must dismiss employees, they have made profits predominantly for a long time. But everything does not help to argue for them. On the other hand, business people from countries like India, Israel or Russia already invest since a long time in foreign teams or completely take these. This usually is not possible in Germany. This has something to do with the club/team right etc. in Germany. Therefore the thought has come offering prosperous people from the USA, England, Russia, Australia and Asia, in which at first the making contact turned out heavy over e-mail, our team .

So anyway, it occured to us of having a try over this homepage and letting more people participate in our team. Therefore we came together working it all. So it just kind of happened. That's about it. We scribbled it down and within about 1 hour a picture of what needed to be done had emerged.

5. Why should I spent $5.5m for a soccer-team?

This is a legitimate question. For an amateur tem $5.5m? Is this sum justifiable at all? Yes! Where can you already get a team, which has been champion three times in a row and even still has reached the semi-final in the fourth year, offered for such a price? Furthermore the team is in a vicinity to seven teams from the German soccer national league. The stadium has to be purchased by the city of Juelich for little money and is located in a direct proximity to the motorway. in addition contacts to the German television and soccer teams of Spain, Belgium and Italy exist. So it is to attain possibly Europe-wide attention. More exact information has to be gathered from the document with the presentation of the team.

6. What will you do with the money?

First and foremost, if we make enough money, we will buy our stadium from the municipal authority. That includes 4 fields, 1 track, 6 dressing rooms, 1 cafeteria, 1 office and 2 clubhouses!

After that, we would like to renovate e.g. the showers, the stands, the track and the fields.

Thirdly... players! We definitely need some new players. To attain our goal, bringing our team into a professional soccer league, we definitely need some new players. Furthermore we would like to invest some money to support our trainees.

Finally... if we reach the our target in selling all banners and still have money left over after doing the investments above, then we have a couple of interesting ideas around the team we would love to invest some money in. So watch this space!

7. Why should I buy your banners?

Because you will have an image and a link to your site on the homepage of a site that could potentially be seen by millions of people over the coming years. The site will be online for at least 5 years, that's guaranteed, but the idea is to keep it online forever. Furthermore you will have a banner in our stadium around the field and everytime tv stations will place their cameras in our stadium, several millions of people can view your banner on tv. So you really could own a piece of 'soccer history'!

8. How can I buy the whole team/club?

We decided that although it would probably be cool if individuals could buy a whole soccer team/club, in practise, it is normally not possible in Germany. We found a way to purchase our team/club on a legal way. We will give you more details if you are interested in buying the team/club.

If you are interested you have fill all fields in the "Buy Team"-form. The first person/company who is interested in buying the team has to pay $5.5m. if there are more people interested in buying the team than they have to bid for the team/club. It will work like an auction. You have to outbid the highest bidder with a minimum of $500.000.

We will check every bid about seriousness. After the first interest filled out the form a deadline of about 3 months will start. at this given date we will accept the highest bid.

9. How long will the site be online and the banners installed in the stadium?

The site will be online for 5 years guaranteed (at least until 30th June 2012), however the aim is to keep the site online forever (or as long as humanly possible).

The banners will be installed in the stadium for 5 years guaranteed (at least until 30th June 2012) no matter what happens to the team during that time, it will be nice to have something that stays solid and permanent for many years. You can be a part of that!

6. If you're from the Germany, why are you selling the team and the banners in dollars and to foreign countries?

We think US dollars are the closest thing we have to a universal currency on the internet, so it made more sense to do it in dollars. 'Buy A German Soccer-Team' just doesn't have the same ring to it!

Also, given that the US has the largest online population in the world, more people will be able to relate to the concept than had we done it in Euros. Plus, €1000 Euro per banner would probably be too expensive (would equate to around $1300 US per banner).

11. If you want money for your team, why don't you get local sponsors?

Although we've had many different ideas in the past, it's not really what people think it could be realized. Our natural disposition is to think of ideas, and to work out how to bring the team and the club on his way to reach the goals. Local sponsors cannot imagine that it could be possible to realize these goals and what could be their benefit. In addition they always say that they don't have any money. Another point is that we will site our team at the first step local, at the second step regional, then nationwide and at least global. Because of that we think it would be better not to start with local sponsors.

12. Are you worried about copy-cats/rip-offs?

Not at all. It is bound to happen (this is the internet afterall), and infact, we think it will work in our favour. They say imitation is thesincerest form of flattery. So we think any copy-cat sites will only have pure comedy value, whereas ours possibly has a bit of comedy PLUSsome actual pull in terms of advertising dollars (We will be able to afford swanky jerseys, they will only get to buy crappy ones probably! They could have our old ones, if they like).

So we say good luck to the imitators! While in our opinion it's not very cool - we would prefer to come up with something original - in many waysthe act of copying (perhaps more on a subconcious level than anything) is the basis of all creativity. But yeah, really bad rip-offs areseriously lame - we mean, if you're gonna copy the concept, at least come up with your own design and text!
